Shannon Felder firmly believes in serving others. Originally from Conway, South Carolina, Shannon was reared in a home where faith, family and community were the paramount considerations in life. Shannon decided in the seventh grade to serve those in her community by becoming an attorney and never let go of her dream.
She attended Winthrop University where she graduated cum laude in 1995 with a B.A. in English and dual minors in education and political science. She attended the University of South Carolina School of Law. While at USC, Shannon was a Carolina Legal Scholar, a designation given to those who receive the law school’s highest scholarship. She was also member of the South Carolina Law Review, student member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court, and member of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA). Her third year, she served as president of BLSA.
Upon graduation from USC in 1998, Shannon served as judicial law clerk for the Honorable Jasper M. Cureton of the South Carolina Court of Appeals. Upon leaving the court in November of 2000, Shannon embarked on her career as a civil litigator, focusing her practice on nursing home, catastrophic automobile, and products liability litigation. Shannon has presented numerous seminars within the legal community on tort law and nursing home litigation. Shannon has served as co-chair of the South Carolina Young Lawyers Division MLK Committee, coordinating the production and implementation of a video project on the law’s role in South Carolina’s civil rights movement.
Outside of the legal profession, Shannon is the pastor’s wife of River of Life Christian Center, a congregation in Winnsboro, South Carolina, a motivational speaker, and director of a district women’s auxiliary. She is married to Reverend Kelvin C. Felder and the couple has three sons.
