Victims of Drunk Drivers Need Experienced Representation

Veteran Personal Injury Attorneys Representing Accident Victims in Crashes Caused by Drunk Drivers.

Despite numerous educational campaigns, increased criminal penalties, compulsory license loss and implied consent laws, many, many people continue to drive drunk in the United States. Drivers in South Carolina are no different. Drunk drivers not only ruin their own lives when they cause a car crash, they ruin the lives of countless others. Thousands of people each year are killed or injured because someone got behind the wheel after he had too much to drink. If you or someone you love has suffered because of this senseless crime, you need an attorney who will stand by you and fight for you to get you the compensation you and your family deserve. The lawyers at The Solomon Law Group have successfully represented victims of drunk driving crashes and we will fight for the compensation you deserve.

As recently as 2012, South Carolina ranked among the highest in the nation in having the most fatal accidents involving a drunk driver. A driver is considered drunk or intoxicated in South Carolina if the Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is equal to or greater than .08 or the driver’s operation is impaired because of alcohol consumption. According to research compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, South Carolina ranked either first, second, or third in the United States for highest rate of intoxicated drivers in fatal car crashes. For example, in 2010, 44 percent of all of the fatal car crashes in South Carolina involved an intoxicated driver. In 2012, that number dipped slightly to 41 percent. By contrast, the national average in 2012 of all fatal car crashes that involved intoxicated drivers was 31 percent. From 2009 to 2012, there were 106 fatal car crashes involving intoxicated drivers in Richland County.

Successful representation of a victim of a drunk driver requires more than a thorough understanding and analysis of the crash itself, but also the events preceding the crash. The experienced attorneys at The Solomon Law Group will investigate the driver and his or her behavior before making the decision to drive drunk and will gather evidence that will help prove your case. The skilled personal injury lawyers at The Solomon Law Group recognize and understand the significance of certain behaviors that people may have witnessed about the drunk driver before he started the car. According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, even one alcoholic drink will start to impair judgment, coordination and concentration. A BAC of .01 to .06 will lower inhibitions and alertness, increase relaxation and induce a sense of well-being. A person with a BAC of .06 to .10 will exhibit signs of impaired reflexes, reasoning, depth perception, glare recovery, sense of distance and loss of peripheral vision. A BAC of .10 or greater will show signs of extroversion, emotional swings, over-expression and may become boisterous. At this BAC level, a person will lose reaction time, motor control and will start to slur speech.
