Marshall grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. After graduating with honors from Morehouse College with a B.A in English Literature, he moved to Kurobe, Japan where he taught English in its elementary, middle, and high schools. Marshall returned to Columbia to teach English and History at his high school alma mater, Heathwood Hall. After Heathwood, he served as the Student Affairs Director at the South Carolina Honors College.
Marshall then attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he earned a J.D. degree. He also earned an LL.M. degree in Corporate Governance. While at Loyola, he competed at the Houston Invitational National Moot Court Competition. He was also a Frederick Douglass Midwest Regional Moot Court Champion and Best Brief Award Winner and a Frederick Douglass Moot Court National Championship Quarterfinalist.
After law school, Marshall returned to South Carolina to serve as a law clerk to then U.S. District Judge J. Michelle Childs in Greenville. Marshall also served as a law clerk in Florence to U.S. Magistrate Judge Kaymani D. West. During these clerkships, he worked on a wide variety of civil matters. Before joining the Solomon Law Group, Marshall was a prosecutor for the City of Columbia. As a prosecutor, he gained significant trial and courtroom experience.
Marshall is admitted to practice in South Carolina, Illinois, and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Heathwood Hall. He is also a member of the South Carolina Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice.
